Work in progress: children’s science book

I’m writing a children’s book. A non-fiction book about science, art, math and nature aimed at 6 to 8-year-olds.

I wrote the first version of this story more than 25 years ago in a creative writing class at Acadia University.

It has stayed with me ever since. I’ve written many different versions, but never published any of them.

More than a year ago, I started working with Owlkids on a new draft. The editors there have been unbelievably kind, smart, and encouraging. The manuscript isn’t finished yet, but it’s a go.

There’s still lots of work to do – we don’t have a title yet. Or an illustrator. But I am super-excited. (Not least because my own boys will be five and seven when the book is published. The timing could not be better.)

I’ll post more as the project develops.

Ha.
